This method is often used in refurbishments and new developments, and is faster to apply than older and more traditional methods. With over 20 years experience in commercial and domestic work, we can help you take care of your dot and dabbing needs. Dot and dab is an alternative to traditional methods like solid sand and cement. The method is fairly simple to understand; dots of drywall adhesive are applied to the wall, and then the plasterboard is dabbed onto these dots. Using a straight edge to tap, the right level is found and this is a quicker method for both application and the time it takes to dry.
When you have roughed an internal wall, you must wait a minimum of 48 hours for the render to cure. This allows for shrinkage before the skimming takes place. However, with the dot and dab method, the plasterboard is dry already. As soon as the adhesive has set, you can begin skimming right away. As well as this, plaster tends to dry quicker on top of plasterboard and this is usually 3 days. On top of new keyed render it may take up to a week. This method can save days of drying time. With dot and dab dry lining, the boarding will be for a skim of finishing plaster, or to be decorated in a matter of hours.
